Remember Jaruzelski?

For those of you too young to remember him, General Jaruzelski was leader of Poland in the old Soviet days. Poland was, of course, nominally an independent country, and the Polish Communist Party was free to make its own decisions. But if ever they dared to do so, Jaruzelski would be summoned to Moscow, and would return absolutely convinced of the need to do whatever it was that had been quietly suggested to him in Moscow.

I'm not quite sure why, but the name suddenly sprang back into my mind as I read the reports of Rhodri Morgan's little trip to London this week.
